Digital Product Passport

Technology at the service of truth.

Every HEIS object is registered. A unique serial number, concealed within the leather, and an integrated NFC tag connect the physical object to a permanent Digital Product Passport (DPP). It documents what the object is, where it comes from, and how it is cared for.

What the passport records

  • Object identity. Model, reference, production lot.

  • Material. Type of leather, tannage, origin of the hide.

  • Manufacture. Place of production.

  • Care. Protocol specific to the material.

  • Service. Warranty terms and access to repair.

  • Permanence. The record remains linked to the object, independently of who owns it.

 How to access it

The connection operates in silence. No application. No registration.

Locate. The tag is placed beneath the HEIS Milano logo inside the object. The same position on all HEIS leather goods. The logo is the point of access.

Engage. Unlock your smartphone and hold its back against the logo.

Finding the reading area. The NFC antenna is not in the same position on every device. On iPhone it is at the top edge of the back. On most Android devices it is in the central or upper central area of the back. If the position is unknown, hold the device flat against the logo and move it slowly downward. Contact is registered within a few seconds. Remove thick cases and metal accessories.

Access. A notification appears. Open it to view the record.

The first screen confirms the tag through a cryptographic signature, unique to each reading, and displays the HEIS Milano logo. The Digital Product Passport opens immediately after.

The serial number allows verification independently of the tag, should it ever be required.

Made for the years

An object made to last requires a record that lasts with it.

The passport remains within the object. It identifies the material and the production lot, the information required to repair it correctly. It connects the owner directly to HEIS, without intermediaries.

The European Union will require a Digital Product Passport for leather and textile goods within this decade. HEIS Milano adopts it now, as a matter of method.
